My name is Adeniyi Favour, a 300l student Of Nursing department. I transferred from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics to the Nursing Department during Harmattan Semester 200L. The period of transition caused me a tremendous change.
At first, I was nervous about starting over in a new department, but I acknowledged the fact that I desired ‘Nursing’ not ‘Nutrition and Dietetics ‘. My transition process into the Nursing department was a tough one. Even though I had a Cumulative Grade Point Aggregate (CGPA) which was above the cut-off, I was so disturbed throughout the process.
I applied for the transfer with a few of my friends. Most of them were successfully chosen for the department as soon as the approval began. I was heartbroken because it was a failure on my part. But, I had people who cheered me up and kept on encouraging me.
Fortunately, I was also chosen at the uttermost end. This made it seem like my future was bright again since Nursing was my dream course.
However, It was two weeks until the examinations already. That alone was so scary because I had limited time to finish up the courses, especially the trios, Biochemistry, anatomy, and physiology courses, which were considered to be huge ones.
It was a very demanding experience, I had to do overnight readings with my friends daily, and it got to a point that I couldn’t return to the hostel to freshen up and eat. Conclusively, the experience has taught me to embrace change and see it as an opportunity for growth. I’m so glad I took the chance to make this change. The change process was difficult but the yield was life-giving.
