Over time, the name Hot DJ Hallomer has become synonymous to parties in LAUTECH. From Fabamssa fest to Now Sounds Friday, Hallomer has been the force behind the major events looking to positively change the social space in LAUTECH.
In this debut Proudly Ladokite magazine interview, we chatted with him to get to know him and his craft better.
Name: Adeyemi Idris
Level: 500
Department: Physiology
You’re popularly known as a DJ but many people also know you to be party planner, so how exactly would you describe yourself and what you do?
I like to refer to myself as an entertainer, not a jack of all trades but a DJ, producer, creative director and events manager.
What got you interested in DJing and party planning?
Events management for me was inspired by the lacklustre way many events are handled on campus. It gave LAUTECH a bad social representation and I could not just take it any longer. Taking a cue from ace events managers like Eddy Lawani I decided to go into events management. Also, growing up as a kid I loved music; from time to time, I tried out various music genres like rap and pop but figured I couldn’t do everything at once so I started an internship program at Quality DJ Jamsmyth’s DJ academy.
What has been your most successful event so far?
Fabamssa fest.
What about your biggest flop?
Fabamssa fest because of environmental factors that were beyond our control. A heavy downpour beyond our control started before the hallmark of the event and it jeopardized a lot of things.
What is your creative process like when it comes to party planning?
First thing is to get the raw ideas and visualize what we want to achieve and then do a feasibility study. Afterwards, we hold meetings to plan the event. There are a few other trade secrets I won’t like to mention publicly although I have a team of creatives I work with that to put the events together.
How did you first get started with party planning?
That was in the year 2013 when I organized a departmental week. I remember that me killing a cow for the social day made it talk of the school then.
What has been your most valuable lesson so far?
I have learnt through experience that big money doesn’t achieve projects but big thinking. Teamwork should never be underrated.
What is one fact people may not know about you?
I don’t drink or smoke.
What’s a challenge you’re still trying to solve both personally and in LAUTECH?
Personally, my anger management. And in LAUTECH, we are trying to correct the social deficit.
What has been one of the highlights of your year so far?
Achieving Fabamssa fest.
What else can we expect to come from you?
I’d like Ladokites to know that the social revolution on campus has started already and it’s championed by us at nowmusicworld. We promise Ladokites that our events Now Sounds Friday and a few others will change the LAUTECH social space positively.
