Being a student itself, demands so much financially, even some expenses that I can’t relate with my parents. I literally depend on the amount given to me by my parents, as I don’t have any business I manage. In this story, I shared how I was able to save from my pocket money.
During my first days on campus, I didn’t have any intention of saving from it cause I think it will be too little, but there are times I bought things like shoes, bags and some unnecessary things by myself without even asking my parents for extra money. Then, I realized that I could get some things by myself from this money. I could definitely save from it, and it wouldn’t be as little as I believed earlier.
The first step I took was to remove a certain amount from my pocket money as soon as it is sent, so I will only work and have financial plans with the amount left.
Additionally, I analyse what the money is actually meant for and I did a rough estimate of the amount that can economically be used for it. For instance, I calculated the amount that would be required to tra nsport me to and fro to school within the time my pocket money covers and I keep at heart to trek to school sometimes so that I can keep the transport money for other miscellaneous expenses.
Also, I reduced purchasing things that are not necessary, and minimized the amount I take with me when going out except in cases that I intended to buy something or when I go to places I am not familiar with.
Minimizing the amount has helped me to be cautious about spending, that even before my pocket money for the following month comes in, I would still have some I haven’t spent which I was able to save.
