On Saturday, 11th November, 2023, Junior Chambers International LAUTECH (JCIN LAUTECH) in partnership with Rotaract, Drug-Free Club, Red Cross, Leo Club, Child’s Online Foundation, and Value Initiative, carried out a CleanUp Campaign tagged Operation Keep LAUTECH Clean (OKLC). The converging point was at the UnderG gate.
OKLC is an annual program of JCIN LAUTECH which aims to preach the need for a clean and sustainable environment. This year’s edition focused on enhancing the waste ecosystem and management by not only having a cleaning exercise but also by sensitizing traders about better means of waste disposal.
The exercise commenced around 8 am with a welcome address, followed by a brief orientation and division of participants into 3 teams: Hygienic, Healthiness, and Sanitation teams, after which required equipment such as gloves, nosemasks, and disposable nylons were given to each team.

Afterward, each team went in different routes to sensitize traders on ways to dispose of waste properly and ensure that their immediate environment was clean at all times.
Thereafter, each team was divided into subgroups to pick inorganic waste: Paper, Nylon, and plastic from UnderG gate, through the main campus, to Adenike, and were judged at the end of the exercise, with Team Hygienic coming first overall.
Additionally, “It was an amazing experience for everyone, as the aim of the project was achieved, and was also able to foster unity between members of various humanitarian organizations on campus.” Victoria Oyesina, JCIN LAUTECH Vice President (Project) said.
