The Dean of Students Affairs, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomosho, LAUTECH, Professor Ige Azeem Oladiran has released an update on student unionism in LAUTECH on Tuesday.
In the mail sent to the school community, Prof I.O Oladiran explained that “a student is a matriculated candidate with an intention of obtaining a degree certificate in the university within the shortest possible duration” relating it with the obligation of students to involve in various leadership potential.
The DSA asserted that one of the main challenges of student unionism in LAUTECH is division among students which results in the formation of illegal groups and band.
He also declared clearly the aims and objectives of students union such as leadership, anticipation to meet students needs and demand, promotion of peace and unity .
However, he encouraged students to see themselves as one and build unity between themselves
In conclusion, he said the school management is working towards having a stable calendar and the school management has set to conduct a peaceful election in the next couple of days.
In a mail that followed, the election timetable and election guidelines were sent.
