NO, LAUTECH IS NOT ON STRIKE… This may sound obvious but we’ve been getting a number of DMs lately, especially from prospective students (aka Jambites), asking if the school is on strike. This is probably due to the influx of news about staff owed-salaries and ownership issues.
So, in the words of the VC Professor Michael Ologunde himself :
- “… staff members of the institution may be demanding payment of their outstanding salaries, ‘they are, however, not unmindful of the need for us to ensure that academic calendar was not disrupted, so that our students can begin to complete studies as at when due’.”
LAUTECH now has new faculties and departments — and some are only for 4 years! In a memo to the university community, the management announced that LAUTECH has been granted approval to award Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Technology Degrees in the following programmes:
Some students are demanding that the university management discipline a lecturer, Adebambo Somuyiwa, who was the HOD of Transport Management for allegedly extorting ₦3000 from all the students of the 2017/2018 final year set for him to append his signature on their clearance forms. (Premium Times)
Adebayo Ayandele, the media coordinator of Oyo State-based socio-political organisation, the Oyo Kajola Group (OKG), said reports coming out of Osun State recently on the LAUTECH issue show that the state was bent on running down the school for no just cause. (ThisDay)
Students of the Department of Pure and Applied Biology are mourning the death of a colleague simply identified as Dolapo. Details surrounding the death of the 400level student have yet to be confirmed. May her soul rest in peace.
