Racheal Opadele, a final year student of Pure and Applied Arts, LAUTECH has been killed days after her abduction in Ogbomoso.
Racheal was kidnapped alongside her boss at the Tana’s lounge, restaurant, bar and club, Abba, where she worked, on the 29th of July.
The President, LAUTECH SUG who shared the news of her death today, lamented how the deceased had gone to work at the hotel due to ASUU strike, only to lose her life.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the gruesome killing of our dear Rachael, a final year student of LAUTECH, that was kidnapped where she was working in Ogbomoso due to ASUU strike. Nigeria has killed one her glory,” he wrote.
Racheal and the hotelier’s kidnap is only one of the recent kidnap for ransom cases in Ogbomoso. Earlier in July, some residents of Ogbomoso were abducted, which included Christopher Bakare, the supervisor of late governor Alao-Akala’s farm; Dr Rasheed, the owner of a private clinic.
They were both released after an agreement was reached and a ransom was paid.
Days after the most recent kidnap however, reports revealed that the abductors demanded a certain ransom amount, only to kill the victims.
Since the incident, Ogbomoso and the LAUTECH community had experienced heavy security presence.
