On the 8th of March, 2019, the Senate of the Institution proscribed the Student Union Government due to unpalatable and ugly situation on campus which led to attacks.
However, today July 3, 2019, the Senate of the University has approved the restoration of the Student Union Government of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH).
The mail received courtesy of PRO LAUTECH contained the following:
“The senate of the University has approved the restoration of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) student union after it was proscribed by Management on March 8, 2019, to forestall breakdown of law and order.”
“Rising from its emergency meeting earlier today, the senate after considering letters of apology submitted by the executive and legislative arms of the Union, also approved the reviewed constitution of the Union as submitted by the Students Representative Council.”
Other highlights of the Senate approval includes that:
The nomenclature of SRC members should remain as HONOURABLE.
Electoral and Election Petition committee shall be made up of best students in each departments.
Registered students seeking elective positions must have minimum of CGPA of 3.5 or its equivalent based on the last approved result prior to Student Union election.
The above is applicable at all levels of Student Union in the University.
