On the 27th of June, 2019 at the 3rd Edition of the Business and Entrepreneurship (BAE) Summit, University of Ilorin, fortune smiled on three students of LAUTECH. These students emerged three of the top four winners in a 15 seconds business pitch competition which earned them business grants.
Akitunde Opeyemi, a 500 level student of the Department of Civil Engineering LAUTECH, one of the winners when interviewed, advised students to go out in full for whatever they love and that they should take risks. “Eri Oro” as Opeyemi is popularly called pitched his idea of helping businesses leverage on digitalization.
On the other hand, Oluwabiyi Esther, another student entrepreneur of the institution from the Department of Physiology who also won, sells Akamu and Akara. She said that she believes in possibilities. Therefore was able to run her Akara and Akamu joint, and even win the prize.
Miss Raji Kofoworola, the third winner, is a 200 level student of Animal Nutrition and Biotechnology (ANB) who also talked to our correspondence. She said that her business is a social enterprise which focuses on creating markets for people in the rural area. For now, her team is working on the distribution of TLM garri, a hygienically made garri from a town called Telemu, in Osun State.
