On Thursday, 22 June 2023, the Nigerian Society Of Engineers in collaboration with LAUTECH Faculty of Engineering and Technology held her 17th Engineering Induction for the new engineering graduates of the faculty. The event took place at the Great Hall, Lautech, Ogbomoso, tagged, “The Making Of Great Engineers In The 21st Century”
The ceremony started with the chorus of the National Anthem. Afterward, the dean of the faculty, Prof Jekanyinfa gave an introductory speech encouraging the new graduates. He opined that some of the accolades received by students of the faculty from both local and international organizations, and recognized the collective effort of the faculty staff in playing crucial roles in the development of the graduates.
The guest speaker, Engr Ayinde, also gave insights on the qualities of a good Engineer in the 21st century and encouraged the new graduates to have an insatiable curiosity about the world around them.
Also, the Engineering Forum of Nigeria, UK chapter, awarded grants to some students because of their innovative research;Adeolu Micheal Olaniyan, from Agricultural Engineering, Taofeek Abiodun Adeboyega and Nurudeen Akorede Ogunsola from Civil Engineering, Habeeb Sanusi from Computer Engineering, Funmilola Ojo from Food Engineering, Damilare Samuel from Chemical Engineering and Abiola Giwa from Electrical and electronics engineering.
Taoheed Oyewo, an innovative student, who won competitions for the faculty outside the campus during his studentship was also awarded in recognition for his feats.
Further, awards were also presented to the best graduating female student from each department: Alalesinlaju Mariam from chemical engineering, Idowu Ifeoluwa from civil engineering, Taiwo Kofoworola from computer engineering, Faleye Mariam from electrical and electronics engineering, Ojo funmilayo from food engineering, and Barakat olayemi from mechanical engineering.
