LAUTECH as a school of technology is revolutionizing by coming up with ways to further nurture talent in students. One of the ways the institution is doing this is the first innovation challenge organised by the LAUTECH Centre for Research, Innovation and Discovery (LAUCRID) team.
Themed “TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION AS A VITAL TOOL FOR SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT”, the challenge commenced on April 30th 2021 with the submission of ideas by students.
Ideas were pitched in various categories: Agriculture, Renewable Energy, Security, Health, and Education. At the end, twenty-three (23) of the Thirty-five (35) students who submitted applications were considered worthy enough to proceed to the next stage of the competition.
Amongst the participants are:
- Lana Gbemiga Matthias, a 500level Student of PAP, who entered for the Renewable Energy Category. He proposed a technology to generate electricity using microorganisms.
- Isiaka Israeal Olamide a 500 level student of CSE. He entered for the Agriculture category and proposed a farm assistant agent- A robotics for making farm work easier.
- Odunaya Abraham and Salami Akorede, MEE 500 entered for the Education category, proposing an AI noise detector in libraries.
- Raji Kofoworola Habeebat, ANB 400 level. Education: StartFinance- Financial literacy education and empowerment for students
The Grand finale, presentation of certificates and award of cash prizes will be held at The HALL, LAUTECH Ogbomoso on June 29, 2021.
