Prof Abiodun Olaniran, LAUTECH ASUU Chairman has confirmed that the institution’s Union is still on strike despite the State Governor and school visitor, Seyi Makinde’s Directive.

On Wednesday, 18th May 2022, during a meeting held with the Oyo State Commissioner for Education and the LAUTECH Academic Staff Union, the Commissioner urged the union to reconsider its stand on the national strike and pull out. Therefore, in accordance with this, the school released a memo on Thursday, announcing the continuation of activities for the first semester. The memo read:

“Upon the directive of the visitor to the university, the Management hereby inform all staff and students that the university will continue it’s activities for the first semester of the 2021/2022 on Thursday May 26, 2022.”

“The amended Academic calendar for the semester will soon be made available. Staff and students are hereby enjoined to abide with this directive.”

On the other hand, when the Union of Campus journalists correspondent reached out to the LAUTECH ASUU chairman, Prof Abiodun Olaniran, he stated that the LAUTECH Academic staff university union is still on strike.”
