Oyo State Commissioner of Education, Barr. Rahman Abiodun Abdul-Raheem has assured students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology that the institution would opt out of the ongoing strike and resume next week. He made this statement in light of a peaceful protest held by students of the institution on Monday about the ongoing strike by the LAUTECH Academic Staff Union of Universities.
The protest which started at the school main gate on Monday was moved down to Ibadan at the Oyo State Secretariat on Tuesday. Afterwards, the student union sent an email to students giving an update about the outcome of the protest.

The mail titled “BEING THE COMMUNIQUE OF THE PEACEFUL PROTEST OF AN APPEAL TO THE OYO STATE GOVERNMENT IN IBADAN” reads,
“Today, the student populace of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology matched down to the Oyo State Secretariat on a peaceful protest to make our request known to the State Government on the peculiarities of our dear institution to opt-out of the ongoing National ASUU Strike, being a State University and incessant strike imbroglio LAUTECH had undergone before now.
“The Student’s Union President commended the impact of the present Oyo State Government ably led by Governor Seyi Makinde, for his impact on our alma mata. He analyzed why LAUTECH shouldn’t be part of the ongoing National ASUU Strike with references to contemporary State University that has opted out or didn’t join the strike, and agitations of Ladokites for resumption to the Commissioner of Education of Oyo State. The President appealed and requested that resumption should be announced for LAUTECH next week.
“While responding to the President’s request, the Commissioner of Education, Barr. Rahman Abiodun Abdul-Raheem assured the students that the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology would opt out of the ongoing strike and resumption for Ladokites will be next week. However, he appreciated the President of the Student’s Union, Adeboye Anuoluwa for making the protest a peaceful one.
Replying to the commissioner, Anuoluwa praised him and said the SUG would not fail to mobilize students for another protest if the commissioner’s words not fulfilled.
“The President praised the Commissioner of Education however stated that if his word failed Ladokites, the Students’ Union will not fail to re-mobilize down to the Oyo State Secretariat.
“We hereby implore Ladokites to remain calm and be fully prepared for resumption as further information about the resumption would be released soon.”
