On the 23rd March 2022, the leadership of ASUU LAUTECH met with the Students’ Union in respect to the open message written to them by the students The outcome of the meeting was released in a mail which reads as follows;
“The ASUU LAUTECH Chairman, Prof Olaniran appreciates the Students’ Union President, Adeboye Anuoluwa, and the executives for raising a voice for the students. However, he noted that the ASUU LAUTECH Is not against the students rather fighting for a better University Education system. Due to the fact that, Asuu LAUIECH IS a branch of the National AsuU and there is a need for unified solidarities.
The demand of the Students’ Union in the recent open message to ASUU LAUTECH was the major point of discussion in the meeting.
The President, of the Students’ Union called the attention of the leadership of ASUU LAUTECH to State Universities that had already pulled out of the National Strike. And due to the peculiarity of LAUTECH, the ASUU LAUTECH should also by now opt out of the ongoing National Strike.
The leadership of ASUU LAUTECH stated the emoluments of LAUTECH as a result of ASUU LAUTECH joining the National ASUU struggle which includes all Tetfund, ETF, and Needs Assessments completed projects and ongoing projects on campus. Moreso,During the last semester, ASUU LAUTECH could have gone on a long strike due to their unpaid EAA which was paid last in the 2012/13 session, and based on considerations they did not and till now they haven’t been paid. But, they will request an opt-out at the NEC meeting, if it will be granted.other salient issues affecting a certain set of students on campus were also trashed out in which the ASUU LAUTECH gave a nugget of looking keenly into it positively. In the end, the meeting was resolved at having an expanded meeting on Tuesday, 29th March 2022.”
The concluding statement for the publication released by the students Union was “While we are at it, we want to implore all ladokites to remain calm and be law-abiding.”
