On Thursday, December 9, 2021, the LAUTECH okada riders around the school area took justice into their hands, burning a student’s car. Since then, several updates has been released and changes made to the rider’s system of operation.
Yesterday, the LAUTECH Student Union Government took a final decision on the matter, releasing a sum of one million, one hundred and fifty-five thousand naira (#1,155,000) contributed by the okada riders to the student.
This is contained in a press release sent to students titled “THE FINAL UPDATE ON THE BARBARIC ACT OF LAUTECH OKADA RIDERS – THE RELEASE OF THE TOTAL SUM OF MONEY ACCRUED TO THE STUDENT VICTIM”
It reads:
“At the instance of receiving a letter from our union member who is a student of the University and a victim of the barbaric act of LAUTECH Okada Riders on Thursday, 9th December 2021 which led to the burning of his car by the Okada Riders stating his withrawal from the case Students’ Union has taken up to compel them to raise the full fund to purchase the car burnt for justice.
“The Students’ Union has, therefore, released the total sum of one million, one hundred and fifty-five thousand (#1,155,000) accrued so far from the Ogbomoso Okada Riders to the student.

“We want to appreciate the University Management, LAUTECH Security Unit, NPF Owode, other security operatives, Indigenes of Ogbomoso, and every other notable person that fostered unity with the Students’ Union in fighting for the justice of the victimized student.”
