The event which opened with a keynote address by the Vice-chancellor held at THE HALL, on 19th March, 2020. He mentioned how impressed he was with the starting population and said it’s an improvement on the previous events. He said, “apart from class and laboratory, you should find yourself where academic lectures are being given. We’re not here to learn about our courses alone, we should learn from other walks of life and have an all round academic development.”
He further said, “this is a truly unique platform for us to come together and shape the future of research, innovation and discovery in the university.”
The citation of the main speaker, Prof. Adedosu Taofeek Adewale, was read, before he went on to talk about the theme of the event; CONCEPTUALIZATION OF INNOVATIVE RESEARCH TOWARDS ACHIEVING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALD(SDGS).
“I’m highly honored to be the first person to be given this seminar theme”, he said. He spoke about how creative knowledge is important to make research. Statistics and graphs were shown to illustrate where Nigeria is, in the innovative space, and he said lautech can spearhead the beginning of consistent research.
He concluded by saying, “innovative research geared towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals will open door for opportunities. knowledge economy based innovation research will prepare our nation for post-oil phase.”
The vote of thanks was done by Dr. Badmus and the event ended after a short presentation by representatives of Sustainable Development Solution Network (SDSN)
