The match between 500 level Microbiology and Environmental biology students, which took place at the university’s Maracana stadium, ended in a 1-0 victory in favour of the Microbiology option team.
The only goal of the game was scored by Hebra-lee, and was assisted by Kenya man. Their two centre backs, Atom and Slizzy, however, held their own at the other with the team keeping a clean sheet.
The game ended in a stalemate in the first half, but was an end-to-end game in the second half, especially in the last minutes.
The Environmental biology team lost two clear-cut chances in succession after Stylo beat a defender with pace, but tripped on the ball before he could shoot.Earlier in the second half, the Environmental biology team already won a penalty, after Stylo was fouled in the box, but Flourish lost the ensuing penalty kick.
The stoppage time of the match also saw the same guys look for a goal in the box after a scramble, but the Microbiology team goalkeeper did well to keep it out.
In an interview with the referee, Oladele Ayodeji, he said, “the Environmental biology team tried, but couldn’t score, and Microbiology’s defence was strong, and they converted one of their little chances to a goal.”
