In preparation for the 26th Nigerian University Games slated for March 18th 2022, the school management met with athletes on Wednesday to encourage them and reassure them of their support. In attendance were the Registrar, Dr Ogunleye, the Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Liasu, Chairman Sports Council, Prof Ajao and the Director of Sport, Mrs D.T. Olaosebikan.
The Chairman Sports Council, Prof Ajao appreciated the management and assures the Ag Vice-chancellor that athletes will come back with medals to make the best state university in Nigeria proud.
The vice-chancellor addressed the contingents and welcomed them while encouragng them on to bring back home trophies. He urged athletes to represent the school well and come back with medals to show the world that LAUTECH is not only the best state university in Academics but also in sport as well.
He said, “I want you to go out there and show them that we do not only beat them in academics, we also beat them in other university activities.” He commended Prof Ajao on his effort to secure funding for the athletes and make sure they are in good shape.
“On behalf of the management staff and all students, I want to wish you God’s luck and insist that the mandate we are giving you is to bring back more laurels”.
Team leaders of Tennis, Badminton, Judo, Taekwondo, Handball, Athletics, Volleyball, and Chess were called upon to speak on behalf of their teammates.
